Berries & Their Benefits

Acai berry 
These look similar to blueberries and are even higher in antioxidants which makes them one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world!
Fresh
Cant be brought fresh unless they are brought local to where they are grown. 
Frozen
Mostly found frozen already. 
Baking 
Not used for baking that I know of!

Blackberry 
Blackberries have strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They can neutralise excessive acid in the body to help relieve joint pain. They can also help with sore throats and chesty coughs.  Blackberries are rich in vitamin E which promotes a healthy heart and good circulation. 
Fresh 
Blackberries are great eaten fresh. 
Frozen
Can also be frozen- Freeze single layer on a baking tray and once frozen you can store in a bag. This makes them great to add to smoothies.
Baking
These are great in an apple and blackberry pie. 

Blueberry
Blueberries are often refereed to as a superfood! They help our bodies to fight infection and inflammation. They neutralise harmful free radicals and help to maintain a healthy vascular system. Research has been done to suggest that blueberries may slow and even reverse age related mental decline. 
Fresh
Blueberries are great eaten fresh. 
Frozen
Can also be frozen- Freeze single layer on a baking tray and once frozen you can store in a bag. This makes them great to add to smoothies.
Baking 
These are great when used to make a blueberry muffin. 

Cherry
The flavonoids in cherries help joint health. Eating cherries daily can help inflammatory disorders such as arthritis, as well as relieving headaches and migraines. Cherries also contain several anticancer compounds including ellagic acid.

You can make cherry bakewells. 

Cranberry
Cranberries are antioxidant powerhouses! They help promote good heart health, inhibit cancerous growth and counter premature ageing. This berry plays a main role in keeping your urinary system healthy. Cranberries can also help chesty coughs and sore throats.

You can eat them fresh but they are best cooked or dried.

Often used at christmas time.

Goji Berry
Goji berries are a very powerful antioxidant. They support healthy liver and kidneys as well as helping with insomnia and sleep problems. A beauty food which help with skin and nail health.

You can eat them fresh but they are best dried.

Can try freezing. 
Baking 
If baked with fresh they can be added to various recipes. 

Raspberry
Raspberries can prevent the overgrowth of certain fungi and bacteria in the body. The fiber levels in raspberries help to lower your levels of bad cholesterol. They are also good for indigestion.

Strawberry
Strawberries daily can help to ward off infections and keep your heart healthy. They also contain antiaging properties like many other berries. They can also ease arthritis and asthma.
